It's the middle of 2011 and your hearing it every day now. Approximately 250,00 teachers will be laid off, 220, 000 postal workers, police officers, nurses, IT Managers, etc etc. It's a whopping epidemic. We all want the finer things in life. Financial freedom, Time, More money, but what's stopping you. I posted in one of my blogs that there was a national survey that 85% of all adults think it is wise to have a financial Plan B, but less than 35% actually have one implemented. You know what's stopping everyone? Fear. It's the fear of failing. Most of the time they don't say that outright but that's what it boils down to.
"Oh, I would love to be my own boss BUT"
1. "I don't know how to sell"
2. I don't like to sell"
3. I don't know any people"
4. I don't have any money to invest'
5. I don't know if I can make enough money to live on".
The issues are not about how well you can do, or the quality of the product, or the marketplace. It's all about fear.
You want to know the difference on how people succeed? Mindset.
I know you heard this so many times. But really, how do you apply this to your everyday life?
A friend of mine, Kenyatta Nichole said "Don't let others tell you what you need in life. Define your own happiness and go out and get it." To define your own life you have to make a serious life commitment. How do you do this?
A. Plan to succeed
B. Redefine what failure is.
The very first thing you need to do is plan. You already know how to fail. You can fail by simply doing nothing and not even trying. But how do you plan to succeed. Very easy, do what everyone else is doing and failing at and do the opposite. It's not brain surgery. To make a living on something you need to
1. Offer a service and/or product
2. Determine if there is a need for that service and/or product
3. Determine a way to offer your service and/or product to those who have the need for it.
Best way to determine the answers to this is to create a Business Plan. A business plan does not have to be professionlly done. It does not have to be pages and pages long. It just needs to be a blueprint you will follow that will guide you along in your business development. Writing everything down will give you insight and provide you details on how your going to do what needs to be done to start and run your business successfully.
Redefine your definition of failure. In school we are taught that there is only one right answer. In the real world there is more than one right way to do something. A failure is only a failure if YOU look at it that. way. John Dyson created over 5000 patents before created the Dyson vacuum. Each patent lead him one step further to his ultimate success. Based on that train of thought, were the prior 5000 patents failures? Nope. They were simply rungs on a ladder to his finale victory. Each time he developed a patent he regarded it as a small success. Again, failure is only a failure if your allow yourself to be considered that. Will other people view you as a failure? Maybe, but who cares. You can change the thoughts or actions of other people, so why even try.
